What tights will we be wearing this winter

  • 23 June 2009

We don’t usually pay much attention to the colour of tights that we use. Black has always been the most common and most available in the stores along side the flesh coloured ones which don’t do much to flatter your legs as they seem to make them look fatter and so we often have no other choice but to opt for black tights.

Black is also the common favourite colour for tights during the winter months as it seems to go with everything we wear and with the black or brown leather footwear that most people use.

Though this winter there are going to be lots of different colours on the market to choose from which will make an exciting change. We will be going back to those velvety opaque tights that all we liked so much a few years back and we will also be given the choice of textured or patterned tights. Patterns will be ones like the horizontally ribbed type, the diamond pattern or crochet tights. The colours will be burgundy, brown, taupe, purple, bottle green and plum, all very warm and easy hues to team up with traditional darker colours of winter clothing.

It can make a very big difference to let’s say a brown dress which was usually worn with black tights to wear it with let’s say purple tights and a purple pendant. It will change the outfit completely and make you feel as if you are wearing something new.

For the evening a plain black dress can be livened up quite a lot with some black tights that have a pattern of diamond shapes embellished with small sparkly stars.

And for those very cold days there is nothing as warm to put on your legs as tights with a thick horizontal rib in a bottle green colour.
